Reasons for Site Inspection:
Due to complaints by members of the public and residents from Mowbray, a site inspection was conducted to check if there was unauthorised work on the property.
Findings of Site Inspection:
Heritage officers met the unnamed caretaker of the residence (as the property is owned by a private student residential company). The owners have only obtained permission from City of Cape Town's SPM department. He noted that the City of Cape Town has already authorised a Stopworks order for the property and an application is in process for the proposed alterations to the City of Cape Town. Caretaker gave details of consultant's running the plans through the process to heritage officers.
Recommended Action:
It was recommended that:
1. Heritage Officers enquire from City of Cape Town about the application.
2. Heritage Officers to enquire from consultant's whether the application is on it's way to HWC.
