Reasons for Site Inspection:

An email from Pierre Smit & Associates on behalf of his client, the Owner of Erf 88202, No 258 Main Road, Muizenberg, was sent to the HWC office to query if we were aware that her Neighbour on Erf 87085-RE, No 252 Main Road, Muizenberg had erected flag poles along their shared boundary. No 252 is a PHS site listed in Gazette Notice 11 May 1984 stating: “National Education, hereby declare the seven properties bordering on the historic old coastal road between Muizenberg and St James, including the beach houses thereon, situated at 190-194, 196 and 252 Main Road, Muizenberg and 20, 22, 32 and 92 Main Road, St James, to be national monuments.”

Findings of Site Inspection:

Waseefa and Katherine went to site on the 30 July to investigate the information received taking along with them a Stop Works Order. Once parked, the flag posts are clearly visible from the road. Katherine and Waseefa rang the intercoms at the various gates situated on Erf 87085-Re (No 252 -256) in order to obtain entrance to the site to inspect if any other work had been done without a permit. There was no response.
