Met on Site By:
N/A
Reasons for Site Inspection:
HWC was informed by City of Cape Town Heritage Officials that illegal work without a permit was taking place at 2 Milner Road (a building which is Graded IIIA in the City Heritage Survey. As there was no permit issued either the City of Cape Town or HWC, a stopworks was issued for the site.
Findings of Site Inspection:
As no work was taking place on site and the registered-owner of the site was not present, HWC Officials could not issue a Stopworks Order.
However, Heritage Officials noted that the outbuilding (2A Milner Road) was joined with the back additions of the main building and new roof sheeting was done to the back additions. HWC Officials noted that no alterations have taken place in the main structure.
It is yet unknown to the Officials whether work is completed or not.
Recommended Action:
HWC Officials to email City Officials to obtain the details of the registered-owner and enquire about the work that has taken place. HWC Official will also forward a copy of the Stopworks to the registered-owner if work still has yet to be completed.
