Nature of Application:
Proposed deck and additional pergola, staircase and railings
Date of Site Visit:
Tuesday, 21 April 2015
HWC Representatives:
Andrew September & Jonathan Windvogel
Met on Site By:
Sarah Winter (BELCOM Chair) & Graham Jacobs (BELCOM Member)
Reasons for Site Inspection:
An application was done by David Tyrell and Patricia Tattersall for a proposed deck, timber staircase/railings and pergola on top of the carport on Erf 66, 5 Blackheath Road. Due to objections (objections surrounding the streetscape) from the local registered conservation body (SPFBBRRA) and issues regarding the CoCT Comment, members of BELCOM decided to have a site visit to investigate the streetscape themselves.
Findings of Site Inspection:
1. The officials and the Committee members present walked along Blackheath Road from Number 1 to 7 Blackheath Road.
2. Officials and BELCOM members present noticed that the streetscape, despite obvious modern alterations on 3 and 7 Blackheath Road, still has context (late Victoria) especially in relation to the houses opposite 5 Blackheath Road.
Recommended Action:
Official and Committee members will discuss and present the findings of the site visit at the next BELCOM meeting on the 22nd April 2015.
