Reasons for Site Inspection:
To validate whether the application was feasible.
Findings of Site Inspection:
The site was part of a larger approved development and the building had already been partially demolished (from original NID approval). The remaining portion of the jail is still intact, though the doors have been boarded up to protect them. it is currently being used as a storage facility for the building work that is carrying on on the remainder of the erf.
Recommended Action:
Since the original HIA was done in 2005, it has been requested that a new revised statement is done concentrating particularly on the jail since more information will be more freely available in this day and age and people will possibly partake more freely in public participation.
