Statement on Main Aims of Organisation:
To assist the Municipality with heritage matters and to protect heritage resources of the area in order to promote the knowledge of the historical value of the town and district.
Categories of Heritage:
All categories of heritage resources in the Greater Knysna area, as referred to in the National Heritage Resources Act, Act 25 of 1999. To include, but not limited to, the built environment, streetscapes, urban precincts, farms and farm buildings, including all structures over 60 years old, monuments, commemorative gardens, needles and cairns, graves and grave sites, living history/heritage, nature conservation and conservatories, archaeological and historical sites, cultural landscapes and shipwrecks.
