Reasons for Site Inspection:
A permit was applied for in November 2014 for excavation. APM denied the permit in favour of a Ground Penetrating Radar study. The report was submitted in late 2015. The full permit was requested to be granted.
Findings of Site Inspection:
The site was inspected. The likely site of the field hospital is highly disturbed with a broad rnge of 19th century material being spilled to the surface. The site is increasingly being accessed illegally. There is a great risk that material is being removed by members of the public. The site may also be coming under pressure for development in the future.
Recommended Action:
The reports are to be resubmited to APM. Apm will consier granting a surface collection permit for the finalisation of the honours project. A future application for excavation may be submitted.
